Customer service reaches new heights

Grimsby materials handling firm, BJB Lift Trucks, are striding forward into 2014 with continuing improvements in customer service and training provision. It was BJB Lift Trucks’ conscientious approach to customer service that attracted the attention of Harlequin Office Furniture Specialists of Dunlop Way, Scunthorpe.

With what they thought was an ailing reach truck, Harlequin were in the market for a new piece of equipment. Like, BJB Lift Trucks, Harlequin are keen to support local suppliers and therefore decided to purchase a new Nissan reach truck from BJB. However, much to Harlequin’s delight, the service team at BJB Lift Trucks were also able to repair the old reach truck. The old truck was returned to Harlequin fully refurbished which has now given the Scunthorpe firm a bonus of having 2 fully functioning reach trucks.

BJB Lift Trucks are supporting Harlequin with planned service schedules and thorough examinations to keep their materials handling equipment both legal and in top condition. Harlequin Managing Director, Ray Nolan, commented “We have been really impressed with the professional proactive approach BJB Lift Trucks have shown towards meeting our needs. Our old reach truck was returned to us not only working, but also refurbished. It’s nice to see a local firm that shares our ethics of going that extra mile to achieve customer satisfaction.”

As providers of office furniture to a number of major site service and modular building specialists throughout the UK, Harlequin is experiencing sustained growth and expansion. Having an additional reach truck has enabled them to cope with bulk and container deliveries and increase their core product which is the supply of furniture and equipment for modular buildings, and construction sites. Another parallel to BJB Lift Trucks is Harlequin’s evolving nationwide client base and this is an area where the two firms are looking at the possibility of working together in the future, particularly in promoting each others services.

Harlequin’s expansion has seen them employ additional staff, some of whom have come through the warehousing and storage courses run by BJB Lift Trucks’ Train2Work division. Having had the accredited training with Train2Work has given the new employees a head start in the vast warehouse operated by Harlequin. Director, Fiona Teesdale, said, “We have been trading for over 23 years and have approximately 40 staff. Being able to source new staff with the appropriate qualifications isn’t always easy so having new employees that have recently undertaken warehouse related training has been a big help. BJB Lift Trucks have been very proactive in suggesting ways we can further enhance and develop our employee training, especially on the reach trucks.”
